Awakenings

The Steadings Gallery, Balmacara June 23rd- July 2nd 2021

The Bridge Art Collective have been necessarily quiet since their last real life show in December 2019.  Despite some ups and downs due to the pandemic individual members  have continued to teach and exhibit online. Members have used the period for reflection on and the development of their own practice.

In recognition of this strange period in our lives the group have come together again with their new  'Awakenings' exhibition.  Much of the work focuses on the natural environment and the artists’ individual reactions to the pandemic. As often happens with their group exhibitions, the works chime together in interesting ways to compliment and enhance. The Collective believe that art is crucially important in the healing process, both personally and at a community level.

The exhibition may be viewed under 'Latest Exhibition.'

Collective Isolation

An online exhibition of art work

June 20th - July 20th 2020 - VIEW THIS EXHIBITION

Art has proved a solace to many through the Covid-19 crisis. More people than ever are making art and there are new ways to get close to the world's greatest masterpieces from our own front rooms. We, The Bridge Art Collective members, have been trying to maintain our various practices, despite some difficult experiences and trying circumstances. Here we come together again, virtually, to share our work both with one another and with you. 'Collective Isolation' reflects the variety within the Collective and the various life stages we find ourselves at.

'In spite of everything I shall rise again. I will take up my pencil which I have forsaken in my great discouragement, and I will go on with my drawing.' Vincent Van Gogh

MIDWINTER December 6th - 13th  2019

The Bridge Art Collective presented their latest body of work at the Kyle Station Visitor Centre, an unconventional but perfectly situated gallery space at the terminus of the Kyle of Lochalsh line: one of the most spectacular train journeys in the world. The nature of the space meant that the exhibition had an intimate feel and the work shown was mostly on small scale. We were delighted to welcome Isabel McLeish into the Collective, this is her first exhibition with us. Isabel has returned to Balmacara having completed her degree in Contemporary Art Practice at Gray's School of Art.

The Collective believe that art is for everyone, with this in mind we had simple drawing materials available for adults and children to sketch both the beautiful surroundings of the station and the fascinating museum exhibits in the Visitor Centre.

Below is the catalogue of all the work from the exhibition - further details on request including availability and price.

GATHERINGS  August 31st -  September 7th 2019

This was our second exhibition at the Steadings, Balmacara. We were delighted to welcome Vera Naessens to exhibit with us as our first invited artist. Born in Belgium and based in the small crofting community of Diurnish, Vera is a very popular artist whose playful work has long inspired locals and visitors to the area. This year marks 25 years of Vera living and working in Diurnish, we wanted to celebrate this by including her in 'Gatherings', an exhibition about coming together.
