Susan is a contemporary landscape painter living on the Isle of Skye.
The effects of the weather on Skye beaches and mountains are my inspiration. I always work outside in all weathers. In January I discovered an ancient area of Swordale near Torrin on the Isle of Skye. Isolated communities and ancient crofting enclosures created many hundreds of years ago began to fascinate me. On the 12th march when I started 2 small abstract paintings – ‘Ancestral Enclosures’ on this theme, looking over to Corry with the ancient patterns of an isolated settlement, we went into lock – down.
